Boys helmet (1-4th grade):

We do not recommend using a used helmet. Helmets must be replaced every 3 years because the plastic degrades. Please buy a new helmet or make certain you know who had the helmet and how long they were wearing it before choosing a used one.

The Next Step...

Girl's and Boy's 5-8th Grade equipment suggestions:

Lacrosse sticks can be costly. Youth players in 5-8th grade should expect to spend between $90 and $300 for a complete stick. Choose a brand your child likes. Try it with a ball in the store and see how comfortable they are throwing and catching. No 5th graders needs a $300 stick, so try to stick to the under $150 range. The only brand PYL coaches do not appreciate is the Brine Evo Warps. They look cool, but no youth player does well with them in our experience.

As the kids get better, the sticks can really help them. The technology these days is amazing - especially on the girls side. Boys often have different heads and shafts for different positions. Your coaches can help you select something. If you need a suggestion for something specific before the season starts, feel free to reach out via email here and we will help you. EMAIL US

*If your son wants to pay defense, check with your coach about borrowing a long pole before buying anything. We have some for borrowing.

** PYL provides goalie sticks to all players who want to try goalie. We also supply protective equipment for goalies. No need to purchase unless your child is a dedicated goalie.

Little Laxers Explained

For the 2025 Season, we will have two age groups for Little Laxers. There will be a Co-Ed Pre-K and a separate Co-Ed Kindergarten Group.

Little Laxers Explained

Both Sessions will be held from 11 am to 12 pm on Sundays at the PRMHS Stadium on the turf field beginning the first week in April and running for 8 weeks (no Memorial Day Weekend).

The Pre-K group will be a bit more unstructured. Small groups (each wearing a different-colored T-shirt), will focus on fundamental lacrosse skills and fun games. After a few weeks, they will build up to small-sided lacrosse games.

Each session will begin with a team warm-up, rotate through 4 to 6 stations, each with a different skill, and finish with fun games. Each session will be fun and have music and fun props for learning. High School Lacrosse players and parent volunteers will run the stations and work with the groups. A skilled coach will also be on hand to ensure proper skills are being taught.

The Kindergarten Group will be a little more structured with a team warm-up, have 25 minutes of skills focusing on lacrosse basics as they rotate through skills stations with their groups, and end with an inter-squad scrimmage played on a small field with 4' by 4' goals.

This group will be divided into small groups, with a dedicated coach and a different t-shirt color. Each session will be lots of fun, with music and fun props for learning. Each session will end with a scrimmage. Scrimmages will consist of two 10-minute halves with an actual halftime. We will be looking for interested parent coaches to volunteer to help facilitate these sessions. Skilled coaches will run the sessions and demonstrate the skills. This will be a non-contact league, with no protective equipment required.
